Each year I have the pleasure of photographing entries for the PBA Beacon competition at The Temple. The experience is always a blast, any time spent in the Temple is infectious, a sea of black clothes, hair colors that do not exist in nature and a simple enthusiasm that is almost raucous in its volume.
This year consisted of 20 student entries to be photographed, three looks per student, so it was a busy, at times hectic three days with 60 models, plus students and assistants. Hard work for sure, but so incredibly rewarding as we built up and dialed in lights for each one, the joy when the images started to pop up on the screen, every student this year knocking it out of the park, taking risks and delivering looks that were superb.
This is Tyler, one of the students who went out of this world with his concepts, a quickly grabbed five minute portrait just after his shoot.
Of course now there is all the post processing and retouching, look for the final versions after the competition is complete, they are incredible !
