This was a shoot that took nearly 18 months in the planning, from initial idea to seeing the jaw dropping work of Benjamin Von Wong. Finding the right people in Pyrophoric, and then actually setting a date, it almost became a standing joke when planning shoots - "It is only a matter of time until I set someone on fire".
The backstory is moving several members of a fire troop and two photographers through the woods at night in drizzling rain with more gear than could be imagined to get to the site of the shoot at a remote waterfall. We even took a psychiatrist, but she only behaves like an adult between 9-5, as witnessed by the splash halfway through the shoot as she leapt into the frigid water to sit in the waterfall. I heard a voice behind me at that point - "Isn't that our adult supervision" !!
These are just a few, we are planning the next one - shooting fire might be a little addictive !
I've also been beta testing the version 7 of Alien Skin Software's Exposure software, previous versions have been a key component of the "look" of my photography, the new version with more film presets, has been an Aladdin's cave of new exploration.
