This gallery is a little special to me as it coincides with the release today of Whitesnake's "The Purple Album", containing songs from David Coverdales time in Deep Purple back in the 70s. Mark graciously returned and modeled a beautiful Gibson Les Paul along with a great Paul Reed Smith painted with a Maryland flag by Maryland stalwart Jimmie Haha of Jimmie's Chicken Shack
As such it is filled with memories, wearing the grooves out on those albums, and being a lifelong Coverdale fan through Whitesnake, solo albums and the reformation of WS, providing almost a defining soundtrack of my life. In fact the first concert I went to was their appearance headlining the Castle Donnington Monsters of Rock back in 1983
Around the world, hundreds of bands seen, thousands listened to and I still come back to their music as my home base.
This album brings back so many memories, opening with a blazing version of "Burn", with "Mistreated" and "Stormbringer both in fine fettle, so great to hear Mr Coverdale's voice on all the older songs, treated with respect, the more metal leanings of Reb Beach and new guitarist Joel Hoekstra being reigned in and sounding great on lesser known songs like Lady Luck.
Great stuff !!!...to many more listens and the summer tour !.
